Finally something new: Testing animated icons

Well, several months have passed and nothing has really changed. I generally haven't had the time and motivation to work on Steel OS, but I finally decided to do something. I wanted to implement animated icons for some time now, and that is something I am looking into.

I threw together a not-too-bad animated version of the clicker game icon today, and added it to a new build (as I haven't created a new build since May). It is a circa 7 fps icon of the button being pushed, and it doesn't look too bad. Furthermore, the performance is not affected at all for the most part! Okay, well on my powerful rig. I'll probably use one of my other units as a guinea pig. I doubt this will result in the best performance with all icons animated, but I think this feature will work, so long as the areas used aren't too much to do. As such, I'll likely use these icons on the desktop and the dock.

On another topic, I do plan on porting Steel OS to Linux proper, something I'll do, testing it on Ubuntu and Debian. I also am starting to draft up my plans for Steel OS 4,  and to make it less ambitious, I'll likely split it into four releases: 4.0, 4.2, 4.5, and 4.7. This is because I want to add a lot of advanced features and I want to make it easier and not too ambitious. Nothing is to be said about features yet, but I'm starting to make plans. Steel OS 3.1 should hopefully be out by the start of November, if I get free time with the return of school time and the resulting downscaling of YouTube video editing times to around two days. I hope.

Anyways, have a nice day, time for me to return to my eternal slumber!
